The Ceremony of Birth

August 2, 2020 by Saoirse Watters

Today was such a blessed day. I had the wonderful opportunity to honor one of my mama clients with a sacred prenatal water ritual and blessing. We swayed in the hot tub together and shared in meditations, affirmations, breathing, and playfulness.

My work as a doula is unique. Though I know I am not the only one practicing this way! I have been trained and initiated in ceremonial work over the last 8 years. This is something I bring forth when working with clients. And when I have lovely clients like Jill who would like to dive deep into the ceremonial aspect of birth, magic happens!

A water blessing ritual is a sacred ceremony that is unique for everyone. No ceremony, just like no client or client relationship, is exactly the same. Today we invoked our guides and our helping ancestors to be with us. We invoked the powerful Light of Sophia and the Sophia Dragon Tribe. We invoked Isis and pearlescent white light. I was gifted with the opportunity to guide Jill and Ian in a deep meditation that aided in releasing fears around birth and ancestral healing. I am so thankful for being trusted to do this with them and for their willingness to let go of what is ready to be released before becoming parents.

After meditating and talking through fears and then affirmations, I was able to share music as they played in the waters with flower petals, lemon balm, and lavender. I shared harp and ukelele and then left them alone for a while to explore for themselves in beauty and play.

To end our ritual we shared cacao, prayers, and I rubbed homemade arnica infused oil on Jill’s feet. We discussed her birth plan and left feeling a bit brighter and more deeply infused with the Medicine of Beauty.

Thank you dearest Jill, Ian, and Anah for welcoming me to be a part of your ceremonial birth. I am honored. And so it is.

Fresh and Local Beeswax Candles ~ prayer, flower, and essential oil infused

Candles

These candles are something special. I have worked for years on these recipes. The smell of the wax alone is absolutely pleasure inducing. When I make these candles, it is a ritual. I set an intention before I begin and gather the oils, flowers, herbs, and altar pieces that support this prayer. Pine, for example, aids in grief. Rose and geranium, for feminine essence and receptivity. Each plant has a personality and signature we can learn from. I am just learning myself, and adore the process. Prayers, songs, intentions, and gratitude are sung through the process of creating. This is true witch craft <3 Casting spells of love, of healing, invocation, and support and then creating something totally new with those intentions.

This is where I buy the beeswax I use to make my sacred candles 🕯♥️ and let me say that ever since I switched to this wax I don’t ever intend on going back to store bought. It smells so heavenly and burns beautifully. The couple I buy the wax from are beekeepers across boulder county. I love supporting people doing real, good things. . . Candle making is on the agenda tonight! If you live near Niwot, CO come by for the class.. starts at 5:45. Private message me for details. Or preorder candles ✨ here ✨ Tonight I’ll be working with geranium and cedar wood essential oils. As always infused with prayer, herbs, and flower petals. I’ll write more about the new batch tomorrow 😉 . . Besos! . . #beeswax #candles #velassagradas #sacredcandles #localbeeswax #savethebees #besos #gratitude

Seriously though, one of my favorite things about these candles is simply the wax. I have had the luck and pleasure to work with wax from a local bee keeper who cares for bees across the county. His wax is so special! And I love driving over and picking it up from this beautifully stocked curbside cabinet.

If you would like to order some candles from me, please contact me! Bulk pricing is available.

En amor,

Saoirse Jordan
